SBA Emerging Leaders Graduate
Last month Bridge City Contracting’s Elizabeth Gomez graduated from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Emerging Leaders Course; a hands-on executive education program for established small business owners. Elizabeth Gomez was one of thirteen small, high potential firms graduated SBA’s 26-week intensive “streetwise MBA” Emerging Leaders course in Portland, Oregon on October 25th. Since beginning in 2008, nationwide, SBA’s Emerging Leaders Program has trained over 5,000 small business owners, created over 6,500 jobs, generated over $300 million in new financing and secured over $3 billion in government contracts.
The SBA Emerging Leaders Initiative is a federal training initiative that specifically focuses on executives of businesses poised for growth in historically challenged communities. The initiative provides these executives with the organizational framework, resource network, and motivation required to build sustainable businesses and promote the economic development of urban communities. The SBA’s outreach in these communities has resulted in entrepreneurial success that generates new jobs, attracts investments, and provides a more sustainable economic base in distressed areas. In addition to forming new relationships with other small business owners, Emerging Leaders graduates are also connected to new opportunities to grow and strengthen their businesses.
“We are so excited to grow our business and be able to provide you with expanded resources and services. We would highly recommend the course to any small business owner!”
