A Chic Refresh
What is a Refresh?
A Refresh focuses on refreshing and repairing an existing space. It doesn’t alter the fundamental layout or structure. Cosmetic updates, such as new tile, paint, or fixtures, fall under a Refresh renovation.
Refreshing your bathroom doesn’t have to be a daunting task. Whether you’re on a tight budget or looking for quick weekend projects, there are several ways to give your bathroom a fresh look. Here are some ideas to consider:
Wallpaper or Paint the Ceiling:
Apply wallpaper to your ceiling for a high-end look without breaking the bank. It’s an affordable way to add interest overhead.
Alternatively, paint the ceiling a contrasting color that complements your tile or wallpaper. This creates a cohesive look throughout the space.
Hang a Gallery Wall:
Curate a collection of framed photos to breathe life into your bathroom walls. Gallery walls aren’t just for living rooms—they work beautifully in bathrooms too.
Mix and match frame materials and matting finishes for a personalized touch or go for a streamlined black-and-white gallery look.
Install Towel Warmers:
Elevate your bathroom experience by adding wall-mounted towel warmers. They’re both stylish and functional.
Choose contrasting colors or textures for your bath sheets and towels to create a chic, spa-like vibe.
Update Soft Surfaces:
Swap out window treatments, rugs, towels, and shower curtains. These small changes can brighten up a neutral bathroom. These small changes will soften the space and create a cozy atmosphere.
The Refresh: A Family’s Journey to a Modern Home
In the quiet suburbs of Vancouver, Washington, stood a charming home built in 1993. The house, constructed with high-quality materials, had weathered the years gracefully. However, its design had become a relic of the past, and the family of four living there knew it was time for a change.
The family consisted of Josh and Sarah, both remote workers, and their two teenagers, Emily and Jake. They loved their home but felt it needed a refresh to better suit their modern lifestyle. The outdated kitchen, dim lighting, and closed-off spaces no longer met their needs.
Determined to bring their home into the 21st century, they hired Bridge City Contracting, renowned for their excellent communication and understanding of clients’ needs. The brainstorming sessions began, with the family and the Bridge City team sitting around the dining table, sketching ideas and discussing possibilities.
The initial designs were promising but needed refinement. Our team of designers patiently guided the family through several revisions, ensuring that each member’s preferences were considered. Josh wanted a more open layout for better flow, Sarah desired a brighter kitchen with ample storage, Emily dreamed of a cozy study nook, and Jake hoped for a space to showcase his growing collection of books and gadgets.
After weeks of collaboration, they finally settled on a design that harmonized with their home’s original style while incorporating modern elements. The plan included knocking down a few walls to create an open-concept living area, installing large windows for natural light, and updating the kitchen with sleek, functional cabinetry and state-of-the-art appliances.
The remodel began, and the family braced themselves for the inconvenience of living out of boxes and having their kitchen decommissioned. Bridge City Contracting’s team worked diligently, always mindful of the family’s schedule and accessibility needs. Despite the temporary chaos, the family remained optimistic, knowing the end result would be worth it.
Two months later, the transformation was complete. Our Bridge City Contracting team exceeded their expectations in every way. The once-dated home now boasted a fresh, modern look. The new lighting plan brightened every corner, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The open layout made the space feel larger and more connected, perfect for family gatherings and entertaining friends.
We didn’t just stop at the remodel; our team helped the family move everything back into place, ensuring order was restored. As they settled into their refreshed home, the family couldn’t help but marvel at the difference. Their environment felt lighter and more peaceful, providing a comfortable workspace for Josh and Sarah and a conducive study area for Emily and Jake.
“The refresh” had indeed been one of the best things to happen to their living space and lives.
The remodel has had a significant positive impact on the Johnson family’s daily lives. Here are some of the key changes they’ve experienced:
Enhanced Work Environment: With both Josh and Sarah working remotely, the improved lighting and more organized space have made their home offices much more comfortable and productive. “It’s amazing how much a well-lit and thoughtfully designed space can boost our productivity,” Josh noted.
Better Study Space: Emily and Jake now have dedicated, well-lit areas for their homework. “I feel more focused and less distracted,” Emily shared. “It’s easier to get my assignments done.”
Increased Comfort and Peace: The overall atmosphere of the home is lighter and more peaceful. “The new design has brought a sense of calm and order to our home,” Sarah said. “It’s a joy to come home to such a welcoming space.”
Improved Functionality: The kitchen remodel has made meal prep and family dinners more enjoyable. “We love cooking together now,” Jake mentioned. “The new kitchen layout makes everything so much easier.”
